What our estimates cover, what they cannot account for, and where you should always verify.
Planning estimates only
Our goal is to get you to the store or supply yard with a realistic number instead of a guess. The final quantity decision, and responsibility for it, remains yours.
Results depend on your inputs
A calculator cannot know your site. If a measurement, unit, depth, or package size is entered incorrectly, the result will be incorrect even though the arithmetic is correct. Re-check your inputs, and use the calculation details panel to confirm the chain of steps.
Material variability
Bulk materials are not uniform products. Weight per cubic foot, compaction behavior, moisture content, and gradation differ between suppliers, between loads, and with the weather.
For this reason we do not publish a universal weight for any material. When weight matters, use the bulk density your supplier provides for the specific product you are buying. Our Methodology page explains this in detail.
Not professional or engineering advice
Nothing on this site constitutes engineering, structural, architectural, or code-compliance advice. Load-bearing work, structural concrete, retaining structures, drainage design, and permitted work should be specified by a qualified professional for your jurisdiction and site conditions.
What our calculators do not account for
- Compaction, settling, and sub-base requirements
- Excavation, slope, drainage, and site access constraints
- Irregular shapes beyond the measurement methods provided
- Supplier delivery minimums, delivery fees, surcharges, and taxes
- Regional product availability and manufacturer installation instructions
- Labor, tools, or consumables other than the material being calculated
Pricing
Where a calculator accepts a price, it uses the figure you enter to produce an arithmetic total. We do not publish, track, or verify retail prices, and any cost shown excludes delivery, taxes, and fees unless you included them yourself.
